Random Events and Individual Thoughts

I know this is the second post today, but I guess I'm making up for the...year...I didn't post anything! And the blanket one was really supposed to be part of last weeks.

Random Events:

1) Wednesday we went to our friends' wedding reception! They are possibly going to be in our ward so thats cool. But the REALLY cool part was that they had these DELICIOUS cinnamon rolls. Actually they had orange, regular, cream cheese frosting, and raspberry. They were from a bakery called Shirley's, I have never had anything from there before but I am sold!

2) We played this really fun game with some of our oldest friends (Chris's old mission companions/roommates/their wives/girl friends) called "Things." I feel that its the kind of game that is more fun when you play with people you know really well and have inside jokes with. And since this was the case it was hilarious sometimes. Anyway, a card is read with an idea or statement on it, like "things a cannibal thinks about while dining" or "things you would say to a pig if it could talk" and then everyone writes down a "thing" and then the group tries to guess who wrote what. Anyway, I really like games, and am looking forward to adding this one to our collection.

3) We saw Living Legends at BYU on Saturday. A-MAZING. I am so sad I haven't ever seen their show before now! They do Latin American, Native American, and Polynesian dances, there is a bit of singing, and a story line that ties one to the next. It was incredible. I think part of the cool thing too was the audience. It was full of people from these cultures and you could just feel the pride they have for their heritage (I am a serious sucker for things like that) and they were SO LOUD! Especially for their own cultural dances, but really for the whole show. I loved being in the middle of that, I thought it was so cool. Anyway, for anyone still at BYU I would go see them the next time they do a show on campus. We saw it with some of our best friends we hadn't seen in a while (that seems contradictory, if they are some of your BEST, why do you never see them...?) so that was fun, too.

4) Chris got a $50 gift card to the Banana Republic/Gap/Old Navy store chain so we went a looked around on Saturday. And for those of you who know me, I LOVE working my dollar for the most it can get. And we came out of Old Navy with TONS of stuff. We got these pants that we had seen a few months ago and liked but were like $35 so passed for $8!!!!!! There was this zip up hoody that was that warm, furry on the inside that was normally $32 for $15. Chris was even nice enough to let me have, wait for it, FIVE DOLLARS! to buy this really cute green sweater. Those were the best deals, but all in all we still had $5 left on the card and came out with a jacket, sweater, pants, and 2 shirts. And it was a gift card. Then we had to go to Sears so while we were at the mall we saw this bookstore going out of business and had 60% - 80% off! I found the book Julie & Julia for, again, $5. So, it was a pretty good shopping day.

Individual Thoughts:

1) I love Crystal Light. I don't drink enough water, I never have, always known it, and Chris brought it up to my family over the holidays and they were all quite worried about it. So my mom sent me some Crystal Light and I have to say its real good. Yes, maybe straight water is better, but this is better than NO water. Sunrise Strawberry Tangerine, excellent, and Raspberry Ice, also quite enjoyable.

2) Saw the movie Fame with some more really good friends (either we only hang out with good friends or all our friends are our good friends, I can't decide). Quite disappointed. Maybe its because I went in expecting the message of the story to be a "you can do it as an artist" and it turned out to be a "no you can't." Our friends want to be professional dancers and Chris wants to be a writer. So yeah. Not the best for us :) But also they didn't show case hardly any amazing talent! The same girl sang the whole time, and the "best dancer in the school" did one little dance. Then at the end, at the "graduation" performance, they had these AMAZING dance sequences! We as a group decided first that the title should have been "Those who can't do teach" and that they probably originally had a 4 hour film (they go through all four years of high school...) and then needed to cut material so they axed all the talent showcasing scenes. Step Up did a better job. Anyway, sorry for those who liked it or haven't seen it yet...but I just had to say.

This post is freaking long. Sorry. Until next week.
